Project Type: Education
Immediately following our successful completion of the Bio-Med complex, the HVG / AACP team was once again selected to undertake the University’s latest major project, a new Business school. Playing off our corporate synergies the successful NCE Building Envelope Approach, was once again utilized.
This multi use complex designed by noted NYC Architect Kohn Pedersen Fox, incorporates many different uses and just as many façade systems. Like the previous Bio-Med building, in addition to the all glass curtainwalls, the predominant material is a red terra cotta tile manufactured in Germany.
The tile facade is a true Rainscreen system, with a structural stud back up and a membrane air barrier system. The rainscreen system of terracotta tiles is suspended in front of the air barrier system, comprising the pressure chamber.
In the facade areas where the tile is integrated with the windows, HVG introduced an innovative approach of hanging the tile off the factory unitized curtainwall system. Integrated sunscreens and terra cotta baguettes complete this custom high efficiency curtainwall application.
The all glass curtainwalls, as well as the atrium vertical wall and skylight are accomplished with custom designed factory unitized curtainwall systems. Canopies, metal panels and entrances complete our involvement on this important project. |
