This architecturally important structure, designed by notable NYC architect Polshek & Partners, incorporates many modern design techniques. This project proves the value of the NCE Building Envelope Approach to it’s fullest.
The “All glass” office wing is a curvilinear structure using a unitized dual wall curtainwall with interior blinds. This dramatic energy reducing design allows high levels of natural light while reducing winter heat loss and summer solar heat gain.
The laboratory wings are constructed with a Rain Screen façade system of Terra Cotta tile over an air barrier metal stud assembly. The fenestration in this wall is accomplished with Unitized curtainwall and strip windows. The combined “Envelope” system performs admirably and is a low maintenance and high efficiency façade.
Connecting the Lab with the Office wing are, stainless steel rod suspended Unitized curtainwall constructions making up a 90’ clear span atrium wall.
In the end, a total success of the NCE Synergy between HVG & AACP (Ann Arbor Ceiling & Partition)
